At the Forefront of Research

At the Forefront of Research

The College of Arts provides a rich environment for research and collaboration. Research is intertwined with our graduate and undergraduate  research programmes and greatly influences the content of our academic curriculum. The accomplishments of our academics and leadership in subject areas are recognised consistently in UK and international league tables and the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The University and College hold a diverse portfolio of grants and contracts (University is in the top 10 grant earners from the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council), and engage in distinguished scholarly projects and knowledge exchange initiatives with national and international stakeholders.

Arts Lab is our research development unit.  It been established within the College to stimulate collaborative and interdisciplinary research, enhance the support structures for researchers, provide an intellectual hub for the exchange of ideas, and share best practice in research development and management.

The University’s Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery as well as the University’s Archives and the University Library’s Department of Special Collections add a unique set of resources, curators and archivists to support our research culture.
