A personal approach
Healthcare is changing and we are at the forefront of this revolution. We are a driving force in precision medicine for Scotland and the UK, and ultimately, the world.
Through the Glasgow-led Stratified Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre, we have developed a unique collaboration in healthcare bringing together the expertise of four universities, the NHS and industry partners, Aridhia and Thermo Fisher Scientific, to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic disease.
Cancer, arthritis, stroke and heart disease. We are pioneering new treatments for chronic diseases.
Precision medicine involves examining the genetic make-up of patients and their differing responses to drugs designed to treat specific diseases. We want to create the right drug for the right patient at the right time.
In the case of pancreatic cancer, our researchers have made a world-changing breakthrough. We discovered pancreatic cancer has four subtypes, each with its own distinct characteristics. We are now using this knowledge to research and develop new ways to treat the disease using precision medicine.
Precision prevention and precision medicine is transforming healthcare and benefiting patients.
