Research at The Hunterian

Research at The Hunterian

The Hunterian carries out a vibrant programme of research which casts light on our collections as well as contributing to the research impact of the University of Glasgow.

Our research covers a wide range of subjects from palaeontology and geology to Roman archaeology and key figures in Scottish and international art. Many of these projects are of international importance, such as the first in-depth analysis into the architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and specialist cataloguing of The Hunterian’s important collection of Greek coins.

Our Academic Advisory Board, with representatives from across the University, inform our research strategy and drive new opportunities for academic engagement with our colleagues.

Our public programme is now increasingly research driven, with research contributing to our educational activities and our special exhibitions.
