The Scottish Centre for China Research Postgraduate Network invites you to a roundtable discussion on the Chinese Communist Party Congress, the most important event in Chinese politics.
Date/Time: Thursday 12 October 2017, 4.30-6.00pm
Venue: Room 718, Adam Smith Building, University of Glasgow
The Party Congress takes place every five years and sees the unveiling of the latest group of senior party members to join the central leadership team. What if, anything, do we know about who will be in and who will be out? What might the Congress reveal about how powerful President Xi Jinping is? What could it tell us about the country’s likely future direction in areas like domestic politics and foreign affairs?
Each of the participants will briefly give their thoughts on what to look out for at the Congress and then the session will be opened up for questions and discussion.
