‌Professor of Media Economics, School of Culture and Creative Arts

Gillian Doyle is Professor of Media Economics and Director of the Centre for Cultural Policy Research (CCPR), an institute renowned internationally for its rigorous, high-impact research into media, communications and cultural policy.

Professor Doyle also directs Glasgow’s MSc in Media Management. Her research on media economics and policy and on the impact of digitisation has been translated and published in several languages. She is former President of the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI) -– an association of scholars, policy makers, arts practitioners and others interested in economic aspects of cultural enterprises and industries.

A member of the European Expert Network on Culture and Audiovisual (EENCA), Professor Doyle has carried out, supervised and contributed to a number of influential studies on media economics and media policy funded by bodies including the UK Research Councils, the European Commission, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Council of Europe. Topics covered include International Trade and Cultural Policy in Audiovisual Services; Media Concentration in Europe; and Promotion of Media Pluralism in EU member states.

Professor Doyle was awarded the European Media Management Association (EMMA) prize for outstanding contribution to scholarship in 2014.
