When is the start date for an online programme?

The majority of our programmes start in September each year though there may be some exceptions. Please refer to individual programme pages for more information.


When is the application deadline?

You can apply to our online distance learning programmes right up until the commencement of the programme.


Will I be required to travel?

Travel is not required for the majority of our online programmes as you can complete the degree entirely online.

Some of the online programmes offered by the School of Education may require students to attend study evenings/weekends in Glasgow so please refer to individual programme pages.


How long does it take to complete an online programme?

The length of the programme depends on what you are studying so please refer to individual programme pages for details.


What are the technical requirements?

All you need to participate in our online programmes is a computer and internet access.  You do not have to have experience of studying online as you will be guided through how to access and use all of our online resources.


Will employers recognise an online programme?

Absolutely. Our online programmes offer the same high teaching and assessment standards as their campus-based equivalents.

They also lead to the same qualifications as an on-campus programme, awarded by the University of Glasgow.


What are the fees for an online programme?

The fees you pay will depend on the programme you are studying. Details of our fees can be found on individual programme pages.


How do I pay for my course? Can I pay in instalments?

You will be asked to pay your fees when you register online using MyCampus. You will need to either pay your fees in full or agree to pay by the approved instalment plan before you can be registered as a student.

Is the University of Glasgow the awarding body for the online postgraduate programmes?

Yes, the University of Glasgow is the awarding body for all our online postgraduate programmes.


Is an online degree as good as a campus degree?

Yes, the degree you are awarded is the same degree that you would get for the equivalent study on-campus. It is subject to the same academic scrutiny and quality control.


Will my degree certificate indicate that my degree was completed online?

No, your degree certificate will look exactly the same as the degree certificates received by those who have completed their study on campus.


Can I graduate on campus in Glasgow?

Yes. Our online students are invited to campus for graduation ceremonies along with our on-campus students. Attendance is not mandatory though.
